Notes to the SickKids NICU

On one very special wall in the SickKids NICU are dozens of notes from families. Below, we share those real NICU stories and thank you notes as a reminder of the even brighter future a new NICU will offer.

Thank you from baby Jacob’s family.

“To the wonderful SickKids NICU staff –
Thank you for holding my hand while I held his.  Thank you for gently placing him in my arms and allowing me to hold him close while you held the wires and tubes.  Thank you for calming his cries when I couldn’t and calming mine when it all became too much.  We are eternally grateful to you all.  Thanks to your care and dedication, Jacob continues to defy the odds and teach the world that different is beautiful.”

Thank you from baby Shaan’s family.

“Thank you to the medical staff at SickKids NICU for being with our son and saving his life. You kept him safe, kept him warm, kept him fed, and most importantly you showed love and compassion where you could in a tough medical situation. Thank you for keeping us feeling like mom and dad through all of this...Without the NICU medical team there would be no Shaan.
Thank you”

Thank you from baby Theo’s family.

“Words can never express our gratitude for the NICU staff and parent liaison.  No parent imagines having a baby who will need to fight for their life.  Theo was born in a fragile state and for me, it was very hard to connect with him.  The NICU staff helped me connect with my baby and feel like a mom despite not being able to hold him or take him home.  We would not have been able to get through this experience without their compassion and support.”
